Fangst Brisling No.4 Sardine with Allspice and Cloves

Brisling are small sprats from the herring family, with a softer texture and more pronounced oiliness than larger sardines. Fangst uses that richness as the base for one of its more aromatic tins.

No. 4 is seasoned with allspice and cloves, which give the fish a warm, almost baking-spice quality without turning sweet. The spices sit naturally against the oily fish and make this feel more like a distinctly Nordic pantry product than a typical Mediterranean sardine tin.

Serve on dark rye with butter and something pickled.
