Güeyu Mar Chargrilled Mussels 14/16

Güeyu Mar is the conservas project of chef Abel Álvarez, whose restaurant on Spain's Asturian coast is known for cooking seafood over live fire. The conservas line applies those same techniques to tinned seafood, creating products that differ noticeably from more traditional preparations.

These mussels are chargrilled before canning, giving them a depth and complexity rarely found in tinned shellfish. The grilling introduces notes of smoke and caramelization while preserving the mussels' natural sweetness and firm texture.

The 14/16 count provides substantial mussels that hold up particularly well to the grilling process. Rather than relying on a heavily seasoned sauce, the preparation highlights the effect of fire on the shellfish itself.

Serve straight from the tin with plain potato chips.
